WHISPA, with the support of National Sporting Organisations (NSOs), surveyed 219 elite and development-level female athletes from 15 sports on a range of health and wellbeing topics.
The purpose of the research was to understand the prevalence and frequency of health concerns to ensure that future interventions by NSOs, HPSNZ and others are targeted and have the greatest impact.
The findings provide a clearer picture than ever before of the health and wellbeing challenges facing elite female athletes and offer a powerful starting point from which to address these issues. HPSNZ will now work collaboratively across the sector and system to maximise its impact.
The following article outlines the research and its findings.
