The Power of Inclusive Leadership is a display presentation showcasing the value and power of inclusive leadership through the in-depth stories of women and NSOs in high performance sport, as told to LockerRoom’s Suzanne McFadden.
Hosted by HPSNZ’s Women in High Performance Sport team, The Power of Inclusive Leadership presentation stands will feature key themes that highlight multiple perspectives on how an inclusive leadership approach can impact high performance.
WiHPS Manager Helene Wilson says she is incredibly humbled the women on the high performance leadership journey have shared their rich and personal stories.
“They’ve been extremely open, honest and, at times, brave, in the way they have told their stories to Suzanne in the belief their experiences will go some way to encourage new thinking, further investigation and discussion as part of the process to unlock performance potential with an inclusive leadership approach,” says Helene.
The four stories are:
- Raising the bar. Discovering potential: the game-changing impact of investing in people (Weightlifting NZ and Kelly Ihaka-Pitama)
- A coach’s journey: Navigating a path to coaching excellence (Cycling NZ and Elyse Fraser)
- People-first approach: The key to high performance (Volleyball NZ and Colleen Campbell)
- Gendered learning: Winning through inclusion (HPSNZ)
In addition to the display presentation, a Performance Summit 2025 Day 1 workshop will see panellists discuss the impact of inclusive leadership on team dynamics, sharing learnings and expertise through a gendered lens of their own experiences.
The 45- minute workshop will be facilitated by Helene with panellists Colleen Campbell, High Performance Manager at Volleyball New Zealand, James Coote, the successful coach of rowing’s Paris golden mums, Lucy Spoors and Brooke Francis, and Performance Summit keynote speaker, opera singer and Dean of UCLA’s Herb Alpert School of Music, Eileen Strempel.
