Performance Support

The team behind the team

HPSNZ’s Performance Support is delivered by a team of specialists spanning eight areas to support athlete wellbeing and optimise performance – all with extensive knowledge and experience in their discipline.

Performance Support’s Role: Support exceptional environments, founded upon collaboration and innovation across the system, in which individuals can thrive whilst achieving their performance potential through the delivery of world leading expertise.

We work with athletes to create an individual performance plan, tailoring our support to suit the unique nature of their sport, as well as their age and stage on their sport’s performance pathway.

We believe wellbeing provides a performance advantage and HPSNZ’s Performance Support includes health and wellbeing focussed performance medicine, nutrition, physiotherapy and massage. Alongside that our team of Performance Life Coaching Advisors provide support and coaching in professional development, transitions, and life balance to maximise performance and wellbeing in sport and life.

High Performance athletes spend much of their time preparing for competition, training daily for hundreds of hours each year. We work with the athlete and coach to provide the right level and blend of expert practitioner support in all the areas needed to build towards major competitions and be in the best possible physical and mental condition to find that extra one percent needed to turn their performance into a medal-winning one.

“A lot of other teams would love to have what we’ve got.”

High Performance Sport New Zealand worked with Canoe Racing New Zealand to build a campaign team to support the Women’s Sprint team’s preparation for Tokyo. Strength and conditioning specialists, physiologists, performance and technique analysts and others combined their skills with the coaches in a holistic approach to help the athletes in all elements of their Tokyo campaign.
