HPSNZ Electronic Health Records system

This information supplements the information provided in our Athlete Privacy Statement about how your personal information is collected, used and shared when you receive healthcare services from HPSNZ through your NSO.

High Performance Sport NZ has recently introduced a new electronic health record management system (EHR system), known as Indici.  Your day-to-day experience will largely stay the same, but we wanted to provide some additional information about what that means for how your information is used and shared when you receive healthcare support.

We take our obligations towards athlete privacy seriously and we’ve worked hard to ensure that the EHR system will meet our (and your) expectations.  It’s currently being used in over 600 health clinics around the country.

All the information collected by our medical, nursing, psychology, physiotherapy, massage and nutrition teams will be held in the EHR system (this includes your Clinical Information as well as your nutrition records). The EHR system better enables members of our health team to operate more efficiently and collaboratively to ensure you receive tailored and timely healthcare support.

So you are aware, the only other people who can access information in the EHR system are members of the Performance Health Operations Team who administer our health operations (e.g. booking appointments) and the technical team who help to make sure that the EHR system is functioning the way it should be.  As always, and in all cases, we work to ensure that your information is only accessed on a “need to know” basis.

There are a couple of other benefits to the EHR system that will improve the way we deliver healthcare services to you:

  • The EHR system provides us with a secure way of sharing your health information when we are connecting with external health providers and the public health system where required for your care.
  • Please note that our health practitioners will be contributing to, and accessing healthcare information from HealthOne. You can find out find out more about HealthOne here.
  • The EHR system also enables us to access your test results via the national Clinical Data Repository’s (CDR’s) online databases of laboratory test results. This allows the health team to see how your results change over time. You can opt out of your test results being entered into the CDR at any point.  For more information about the CDR or to access the opt-out form please see here
  • The EHR system also incorporates some Artificial Intelligence features that have been designed to enhance our delivery of healthcare support. Your practitioner will ask for your consent to using these AI features before each consultation with you. If you’d like to know more about the AI features of the EHR system, please ask one of your health support team.

If you have any questions about the new EHR System or how your information is handled when you receive healthcare services from HPSNZ, please reach out to our Performance Health Operations team or one of your health support team.
