Transition

Change is inevitable and constant. Change is the external process while transition is the internal process needed to adapt.

Performance Life Coaches support athletes as they enter the HP system, journey through, and as they exit, to ensure each transition is skilfully navigated. Athletes will learn about the critical factors for successful transitions and plan for inevitable changes that occur in life and sport. Alongside the planning there is a focus on building the skills and competencies to make purpose driven decisions.

Athletes leaving the high performance system are encouraged to have a legacy interview with their Performance Life Coach. This is a way of reflecting on the athlete’s journey, recognising their growth and development during their HP journey and highlighting the transferable skills to set the athlete up for future success.

“The Performance Life Programme is one of the best resources that HPSNZ provides. Engaging in this work whilst you are on the sport journey is a must to help you with any transitions. Stay true to yourself and put the work in to evolve as a person and make sure you have a key person in the system – mine was my Performance Life Coach.”
