Female Athlete Health Symposium: Youth in the Spotlight - 4 April 2019
Are you interested in young female athletes’ health and wellbeing?
Join us for the third Female Athlete Health Symposium, and the first time being held in Auckland! Hosted by the University of Waikato in partnership with High Performance Sport NZ’s WHISPA group (Healthy Women in Sport: A Performance Advantage), the symposium will feature an exciting line-up of speakers, including leading scientists, researchers, health professionals, coaches and athletes. Issues discussed will have a particular focus on young female athletes, including nutrition, preventing injuries, low energy availability and relative energy deficiency in sport (RED-S), body image, bone health, and many other important topics.
The morning will feature accessible and engaging keynotes and presentations, and the afternoon will include a series of workshops designed specifically for i) coaches and fitness trainers, ii) young athletes, parents and teachers, and iii) GPs and health professionals. The afternoon workshops will include group discussions and a series of practical activities, giving attendees the opportunity to raise questions and discuss strategies. The previous two events have sold-out, so make sure to register your interest as soon as possible.
Keynote: Dr Stacy Sims
World leading researcher on female athlete health and fitness, author of ROAR and Eat, Race and Win.
