The New Zealand Team features 63 athletes set for their first Commonwealth Games, with more than a third returning for a second Games or more and a group of experienced athletes making their fourth (Shot Put athlete Tom Walsh, Para Bowls’ Mark Noble), fifth (Lawn Bowls’ Shannon Mcilroy and Ali Forsyth) or sixth (Artistic Gymnast Misha Kourdinov) appearance..
Sports on the competition schedule are 3×3 Basketball and 3×3 Wheelchair Basketball, Artistic Gymnastics, Athletics and Para Athletics (track and field), Bowls and Para Bowls, Boxing, Judo, Netball, Weightlifting and Para Powerlifting, Swimming and Para Swimming, Track Cycling and Para Track Cycling.
New Zealand will have athletes in all sports with competition spread across four venue clusters in Glasgow.
HPSNZ’s globally recognised experts in disciplines such as Performance Physiology, Performance & Technique Analysis, Performance Nutrition, Sports Science, Strength & Conditioning and Performance Psychology have been an integral part of New Zealand’s Commonwealth Games preparation.
Five HPSNZ Athlete Performance Support staff (APS) and three HPSNZ contractors will be on the ground in Glasgow as part of the NZOC Core Support Team to support all New Zealand athletes.
In addition, a further 11 HPSNZ staff will support individual NSOs and their athletes in Glasgow.
